The vision sensor achieves the highest optical precision through the design of its telecentric optics. The special advantage of this principle: the size of the object on the image (image scale) remains constant, even if the working distance (of the object or the plane of the image) changes within the telecentric space. The distortion produced by telecentric optics is substantially less than that from non-telecentric optics. Negative effects on measurement accuracy are effectively eliminated.

Image processing:
All Optiv systems use the very advanced and powerful PC-DMIS Vision image processing software with quick, precise video-autofocus, contour scan mode, best-fit routines, as well as geometry and bad pixel video filters as tools for taking visual measurements in difficult conditions.
MultiCapture has been integrated into PC-DMIS Vision to provide a further tool for increasing productivity when taking visual measurements. Now the many tightly packed features within a camera's image field can be captured and measured simultaneously, which greatly accelerates the overall inspection process.
The image processing facility within PC-DMIS Vision also allows the user to modify the RGB sensitivity of the colour camera. The accompanying improvement in contrast can help with edge detection, particularly when the inspected part is coloured and alterations to grey tones or lighting conditions have not been successful.
